I have been thinking of adjusting the difficulty on the server for higher spawns for a bit now, and with the balance changes, I think now if the time to try it.  Raised it from the default of 0.2 to 0.5 (1.0 is highest).  Also, I adjusted the harvest rate multiplier to 2.0, harvest health multiplier to 2.0, and tame multiplier to 4.0.  Due to the higher level dinos, and how long the lower levels already take to tame, I figured it would be best to increase the speed to shorten the tame times.

Be aware that the difficulty increase in combination with the tamed dino level nerf, is going to make combat with tamed dinos difficult, at least initially.

Just updated the server.  A few more changes.  Slight bump to gather rate in 231.4, plus some other balance adjustments.  231.5 has the prior 25% melee boost to kick in, as previously it would not kick in until you leveled up.

They bumped up gather rates to prior levels.  So main difference now is melee damage and health added by tamed levels is much lower than before.  Yes, tamed dinos were kind of overpowered to their wild counterparts, and these changes are attempting to address that.  Combat is a little more challenging now.  I used to be able to take my argent and take on multiple brontos and rexes at the same time, without losing much health.  Now I do a single carno, and it takes me down to 50% health before I kill it.  Granted I went head to head with it and didn't bother trying to avoid it's hits, but still a big difference from before.

This update, and 231.1, bumps the gather rate of dinos by 3 times.  This will improve their gather rate, but may or may not get them back to prior levels.  They also bumped dmg and HP on tamed dino levels by 25%.  This is still considerably lower than it used to be, so be careful when you go out.

Well the tamed dino nerf is pretty dramatic, so be careful with what dinos you take out.  It seems like about a 75% reduction in HP and damage on all of the dinos.  It's actually probably worse than that.  I tested a level on one of the deer, and boosted it's damage, and instead of a 10% boost it was 1%.  I also think the nerf only applies to the levels since it was tamed.  So wild dinos will no be any weaker than they are now.

So be very careful with the dinios you take out, as they are a lot squishier, and don't pack much of a punch.

I think as more of a side effect of this change, the dino harvesting rates have also dropped, seeing they are based on the melee damage of the dino.  I have not tested this myself, but based on the yelling on the forums, it appears gather rates are pretty bad.  People are saying it is generally faster to gather by hand.  I have a feeling this will be adjusted though, as I think the main intention is to make tamed dino's weaker in combat, and not really go after them as gathering tools.

Now seeing we are on a private server, we can always crank up the HP and damage multipliers on tamed dinos.  I would like to give it a day or so to see what adjustments they make, as I expect more to be coming.

Also, this update contains "balance adjustments" in it.  Specifically to tamed dinos, so expect them to be weaker.  So things that were safe to go out in before might not be as safe, so be careful.  Also they apparently nerfed some of the gathering, but not sure yet.  There is a lot of complaining about it on the forums currently, and they took the official servers down because of it.  I have a feeling another update is coming shortly to adjust things again.

Or maybe the ball with drop at 12:00 am EST regardless of when I start it, as it is pretty close to the ground.

Also, the generator is now running and we have a couple of lights and our first fridge.

I started the New Year's event at 12:18 MST.  So it will be 12:18 am MST that the ball will drop (sorry so late).  Not really sure what happens then :)

Deploying update now.  Below are the patch notes.  The 25% warm up should help, and from what I understand the Winter Wonderland event ends on 1/5.

Industrial grill in place in new building.  Like the fabricator, you place 1 gas in the inventory and you turn it on. It will run for 20 minutes on the 1 gas.  It cooks a lot of meat in that time.  I would not put in more than one gas, as you do not want it burning more if you forget to turn it off.  No need to turn it off if only feeding it one gas at a time, as you may need it again within the 20 minute run time.
