Bugs / Issues / Server Lag
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:29:46 pm »
I think we all have been noticing that in the last few days the server has undergone hours at a time of extreme lag. This lag is so bad in such instances that the clock seems to repeat 4 seconds at a time before rubberbanding back. Of course this presents an issue if your trying to play. These lag spikes seem to happen at random intervals throughout the day often occurring 3-4 times a day and lasting anywhere from an hour to 3 hours.

I personally have noticed that these spikes occur even with just one player online. The odd thing is that if I switch over to the test server with just myself online there is no lag. I'm wondering if the running of two servers in tandem could be responsible for this? It doesn't appear to be related to the number of people online though which is the strange part. You would think the more chunks being loaded at once would be a cause.

Yes that would be awesome if you don't mind and I will give it a try. Right now I have it working on my Dell Studio but that thing is like 3 years old so minecraft doesn't work well on it. It does work well on my mac though if I can get it to connect :)

Yeah, i think its the ML environment that is overloading java. OSX handles java as an alien anyway advanced scripting is just murder.

There are two files inside the zipped folder that mac doesn't like.

Minecraft -> Bin -> md5sums and version.

These two files are .exe which osx doesn't know how to treat, I left the original files that were part of my bin folder the same which are documents.

I basically copy and pasted all the files out of the MC 1.4.7 Forge 1.0 file and pasted them in my minecraft folder. I start minecraft and it starts up correctly; however, if I try to play in either single player or multiplayer it says its joining server or creating world, but I just get a blank black screen after that.

Ok, I downloaded MC Forge as per the title page for the forums instructed; however, I have no fricken clue on how to install this thing. I've always played Minecraft on mac but it has issues with modding and im not sure how to add MC Forge into minecraft for windows.

I believe it was more than 30 minutes because I started building on another apart of my castle that took longer than that haha

There was lol remember that chunk where my stuff disappeared from? Wellll it happened again. It was some glass fibre cable and MFSU...the bricks that I had built in addition to laying the new power grid did not get lost though which seems weird. The only loss material seems to be modded materials not those native to the game. It was even more weird that the 2 HV solar arrays on top of the roof were still there and they are on the same chunk grid as the MFSU and cable, im not quite sure how to explain that one.

Ok, I had just moved my LV solar array to there as well so right now Im not generating any power anywhere haha. I took a look at the minimap that shows the chunks grid and sure enough the room I built sits on two different chunks. All of my power equipment was on the one that reverted while the other changes were kept. But thanks, I may be on tonight.

All I was doing was building the power supply room in my castle. I had installed a MFSU, MV transformer, and LV transformer with glass fibre cable between them. It was standard layout but for some reason my MV transformer blew up when I placed it. Not sure if placing an energy display monitor next to it is what caused it or not. However, I logged in just now and all of that is missing. The only thing there now is the room as it was before I placed the energy equipment in it. I went to look in the chest they were stored in earlier this day before i installed them to see if they reverted back there and they did not. So I have no idea where any of it has gone its just vanished. I had the same issue with a ring a few weeks back that I never found either.

It isnt even showing the server online for me lol so I have no idea. There was some extreme lag last night due to issues with KMD's transport pipes and Kerno had to do a roll back. However, Im not sure if that solved the issue or not.
